Erla’s aim in therapy is to create a comfortable atmosphere during her sessions. She puts great emphasis on monitoring the progress and outcome of therapy to ensure that her clients are benefiting from the experience. Erla speaks fluent French and Italian, as well as English. Erla has been trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Method Couples therapy, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, and Trauma Focused Therapy. She has also received training in Somatic Experiencing®, which is a therapy approach that gives attention to the body’s natural responses of PTSD and trauma, anxiety etc. in order to relieve maladaptive symptoms and heal emotional and trauma-related physical sensations.
Erla’s approach in therapy is eclectic, drawing from Attachment Theory to identify ways that childhood experiences unconsciously shape maladaptive responses and current communication patterns. Erla also uses concepts from Psychodynamic Therapy, CBT Polyvagal Theory, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). EMDR uses visual, tactile/kinesthetic and auditory stimulation to facilitate clients’ healing process in therapy.
